Born in 1952 in Valdagno, Vicenza, Gaetano Marzotto studied at the Collegio Navale Morosini in Venice, and then he graduated in business economy from Bocconi University, Milan in 1976/77. After a series of internships in such important organizations as Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, Olivetti, and Necchi, he took on various managerial roles in the family firm, among them that of head of economic control and management of the textile division, and of the central acquisition service; the director of the furnishing division; the director of the Marlboro division; vice-president of Gruppo Marzotto; and director of foreign market management. Since 2000 he has been vice-president of J. Hirsch & Co. Management & Consulting S.r.L., Milan. He is also advisor for industrial associations in the Italian and international fashion sector: SMI (Sistema Moda Italia) and IAF (International Apparel Federation), of which he has also been president. He is managing director of Hugo Boss and Valentino Fashion Group; president of Zignago Santa Margherita SpA; and managing director of Zignago Holding e vetro.
Since 2002 he has been president of Pitti Immagine and president of CFI – Comitato Fiere Industria di Confindustria.
